hiermit zünde ich eine Kerze an als Zeichen wie sehr ich dich vermisse. Ich spüre deine Nähe.

Saddened to hear of this faith-filled, wise man's passing who was entwined in many phases of my life. I was privileged to be his seventh grade geography student at Holy Redeener School in Evergreen Park; his undergraduate, graduate student and office aide during his time as a DePaul Univ. professor in Chicago. He attended my wedding, visited my family home, and opened his home to me and my two children when we were in Germany. He even planned out the train route we needed to take to get across Europe to Germany and met us at the train station!

I looked forward to his annual holiday greeting letter. Not having received any correspondence from him in recent years, I had been searching online for him to no avail until today. 

Being the Easter season, I am sure he would encourage us to rejoice in knowing that he is resting in the arms of the Lord. Peace to you, Dr. Schieser. You were an inspirational person in my life. I will never forget your teachings or your kindness.
